Your car window isn’t a shield. Side and rear auto glass lets the majority of UVA rays pass straight through, and homes and offices are no different. At Tru-Tints in Concord, we install XPEL PRIME window films that have earned the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation, blocking more than 99 percent of UVA and UVB radiation. Every installation we complete is a partnership in skin cancer prevention, and every film we sell helps support the Foundation’s mission of decreasing the incidence of skin cancer through education and research.

THE NUMBERS BEHIND THE PARTNERSHIP

– 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.
– More than two people die of skin cancer in the U.S. every hour.
– Having five or more sunburns doubles your risk for melanoma.
– Untreated UVA exposure through side and rear vehicle glass is one of the most overlooked sources of skin damage for daily drivers.

About Our Partnership With the Skin Cancer Foundation

tesla

The Skin Cancer Foundation is the only international organization devoted solely to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of skin cancer. Through its Seal of Recommendation program, the Foundation evaluates products that meet rigorous standards for safe and effective UV protection. Window films that earn the Seal must demonstrate, through independent scientific testing reviewed by the Foundation’s Photobiology Committee, that they meaningfully reduce UVA and UVB exposure.

XPEL PRIME window film, the brand we install exclusively at Tru-Tints, has earned that Seal. As Certified XPEL Specialists, we’re proud to deliver a product the Foundation has independently endorsed as an effective UV protectant, and to support the Foundation’s broader mission with every installation.

Why Window Film Is a Skin Cancer Prevention Tool

Most drivers assume their car windows protect them from the sun. They don’t, at least not from the kind of radiation that causes the most damage. Standard automotive glass blocks UVB rays well, but lets a significant portion of UVA radiation through. UVA penetrates deeper into the skin, accelerates aging, and contributes to the formation of melanoma and other skin cancers. Dermatologists have a name for the cumulative effect on long-time drivers: “truck driver face,” the asymmetric aging and skin damage on the side of the face closest to the driver-side window.

In Concord, the problem is amplified. Summer temperatures here routinely climb into the mid-90s, and commuters spend hours each week stuck in I-680 and Highway 4 traffic with the sun pouring through their side glass. The same applies to homes with large west-facing windows and offices with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the East Bay hills.

XPEL PRIME ceramic window film addresses this directly. PRIME XR PLUS, our most popular tier, blocks more than 99 percent of UVA and UVB rays and rejects up to 98 percent of infrared heat. That level of UV protection is the equivalent of an SPF rating well above what any topical sunscreen offers, and it’s working every minute the film is on the glass.

The XPEL Films We Install

Every film in the XPEL PRIME automotive lineup carries the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation. At Tru-Tints, we offer the full PRIME range and help every customer match the right film to their vehicle, their commute, and their priorities.

– PRIME XR PLUS: Our flagship ceramic film. Blocks 99 percent of UV rays, rejects up to 98 percent of infrared heat, and uses multi-layer nanoparticle technology that won’t interfere with cellular, GPS, or Bluetooth signals. The right choice for Tesla owners, daily commuters on I-680, and anyone who wants the maximum heat and UV defense XPEL makes.

– PRIME XR BLACK:A nano-ceramic film that delivers 99% UV rejection and high-performance heat blocking, offering an accessible everyday value, and providing a deeper, uniform finish for maximum privacy on trucks and luxury vehicles.

Every PRIME film is backed by a transferable lifetime manufacturer warranty against fading, bubbling, and peeling, and every Tru-Tints installation is backed by our in-house satisfaction guarantee.

UV Protection for Your Vehicle, Home, and Business

Automotive Window Tinting

Most drivers spend hundreds of hours behind the wheel every year. UV exposure during that time is cumulative, even on overcast days. Tru-Tints’ automotive window tinting service applies XPEL PRIME film to side, rear, and panoramic glass, with a clear or near-clear ceramic option for the front side windows that keeps you compliant with California’s 70 percent VLT law while still rejecting the majority of infrared heat. Tesla, BMW, and other luxury vehicles are some of the most common trends, and we have specific experience with the panoramic roofs and curved geometry that make Teslas different from a typical sedan.

Residential Window Film

West-facing rooms in Concord absorb intense afternoon and evening sun for most of the year. UVA passing through residential glass fades hardwood floors, leather furniture, and artwork, and exposes anyone sitting near those windows to ongoing skin damage. Our home window tinting service applies XPEL architectural films designed for residential glass, blocking 99 percent of UV rays while improving year-round comfort and energy efficiency. We can install on virtually any residential window, including sliding glass doors, skylights, and large picture windows.

Commercial Window Film

Storefronts, offices, and medical buildings across Concord, Walnut Creek, and Pleasant Hill rely on large glass facades that can flood interior spaces with UV and heat. For business owners, that means uncomfortable employees, faded merchandise and finishes, and rising HVAC bills. Our commercial window film service installs XPEL architectural film that meaningfully reduces solar heat gain and blocks UV exposure for everyone working or shopping inside.

What XPEL Window Film Actually Does for You

– Blocks more than 99 percent of UVA and UVB rays. The same UV that causes skin cancer, premature aging, and melanoma is stopped at the glass.

– Rejects up to 98 percent of infrared heat (PRIME XR PLUS). Cooler cabin, less HVAC strain, lower fuel and energy costs.

– Reduces glare. Cuts the eye strain that comes with morning sun on Highway 4 westbound and the late-afternoon sun at the I-680 and Highway 24 split.

–  Protect your interior. Slows the fading of leather, dashboard plastics, and upholstery in your vehicle, and prevents floor and furniture damage at home.

– Adds privacy and security. Darker rear glass and home film options deter prying eyes and casual theft.

– Holds a transferable lifetime warranty. XPEL PRIME film carries a transferable lifetime manufacturer warranty, and Tru-Tints adds an in-house satisfaction guarantee.

Why Tru-Tints

Tru-Tints has installed XPEL PRIME window film in Concord since 2018. We are factory-trained Certified XPEL Specialists, we work in a climate-controlled installation bay with dust mitigation systems, and we measure every installation with a calibrated VLT meter to confirm California compliance before a vehicle leaves the shop. We sell ceramic coating, paint correction, or stereo work as side services. Window film is what we do, and we do it at a level the manufacturer has independently certified.

Beyond the technical work, we run the kind of customer experience we’d want as customers ourselves. Real-time updates while your vehicle is in our bay, a comfortable waiting lounge with complimentary snacks and drinks, transparent pricing, and direct communication with the owner, Kyler, on every job. That’s what “Tru-Tints” stands for.
